Türkiye trio
A mosque with multiple domes and two tall minarets against a pink and purple sunset sky, overlooking a distant cityscape and body of water.

A tailor-made three‑stop journey through Türkiye, taking in Istanbul, the cave landscapes of Cappadocia and the Turquoise Coast

A family of four wanted something special to mark the end of GCSEs and A‑levels: a chance to exhale after exam season, but also to experience somewhere completely different together. They were dreaming of a family holiday to Türkiye that combined culture, adventure and a relaxing beach escape.

Mum pictured a sunrise Cappadocia hot air balloon ride over those otherworldly rock formations. Dad wanted time to wander Istanbul’s streets with his camera, capturing mosques at golden hour and ferries crossing the Bosphorus. And everyone agreed there had to be a proper beachside break at the end in Fethiye, at a resort with plenty for teens as well as adults.

I designed a three‑part Istanbul and Cappadocia itinerary with a coastal finale that brought all of this together. It begins with three nights in Istanbul, staying in a stylish hotel with easy access to both the old city and the Bosphorus, giving plenty of time for exploring markets, rooftops and sunset viewpoints with a camera in hand.

From there, they fly to Cappadocia for three nights in Aza Cave Hotel in Göreme. I chose this adults‑only (from 16 yrs) cave hotel for its characterful rooms carved into the rock, its peaceful pool and its breathtaking views over the valley: the perfect place to watch the balloons drift past at dawn. A private sunrise balloon experience and a guided tour of the underground city and Ihlara Valley turned this part of the trip into the ultimate bucket‑list tick.

Finally, they end with five nights at Hillside Beach Club in Fethiye, my favourite family beach resort in Fethiye. Tucked into its own private bay, it combines excellent facilities with a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere: clear water for swimming and paddleboarding, beautiful sunsets, spa and adults‑only quiet zones when parents want a breather, and plenty to keep older teens happy too. On a full board basis, it is the kind of place where you can simply arrive, exhale and let the days find their own rhythm.

With Turkish Airlines flights, private Mercedes transfers, handpicked stays, a once‑in‑a‑lifetime Cappadocia hot air balloon flight and a true “feet‑up” finale by the sea, this family trip to Türkiye is an ideal post‑exams adventure: part celebration, part cultural discovery and part well‑earned rest before the next chapter.
